Soyfed Beef–640 grams is an elaboration of a conceptually similar piece first performed in January 2024, with the current work involving Siew consuming, or attempting to finish consuming, the equivalent of 16 one-litre cartons of soymilk. […] The work speaks to the fixation on nutritional intake and muscle-building among serious gym- goers, while the artist also points to the analogy between his body and those of the livestock bred by large-scale agribusiness, two varieties of soy-fed beef.
