becoming is inspired by photographic processes utilised by scientists during colonial expansion to index newly discovered animals. It speculates on one of such animals——an unknown species of crab. Subverting the decipherability of biological taxonomy, the subject of interest recedes from stable representation by seeking various ways to escape capture.

The crab is in fact a collage assembled by images of the artist’s body parts.
